Participation and Power with Girls and Young Feminists

This studio works to strengthen our practice and contribute to sector and movement wide learning. With partners and sister organisations we are in relationship with, we endeavour to identify and create intergenerational connections across the ecosystem and deepen concrete accountability for girls and young feminists.

Intentionally brings together and builds on a body of work by Ruby Johnson and Georgia Booth on meaningful youth and girls’ participation, working with organisations including EMpower, Elevate Children Funder’s Group, Purposeful, Children's Investment Fund Foundation, Our Collective Practice, Save the Children, Plan International, Porticus, and UN Foundation.


In collaboration with artist and researcher Ipsita Dwivedi and care collective we documented learnings and developed insights and recommendations on girl and young feminist advocacy, resourcing and participation, including intergenerational approaches.

Coaching Circles

Working with feminist coaches to offer coaching circles for young feminist led groups on a range of issues, including Co-Leadership and Leadership Transition.

Building accountability with girls and young feminists

A space for girls and young feminists who are interfacing with philanthropy and UN processes. Focused on building relationships between advisories and strengthening existing accountability mechanisms.

Accompaniment of funders and organizations

in their work around meaningful adolescent and youth engagement and participation and power building.

New initiative coming soon

Currently building a joint collaboration with Purity Kagwiria, offering customized accompaniment, coaching, mentoring and peer support for girl and young feminist led groups, with a pilot in East Africa and SE Asia.

Creative writing workshops with girls and young people

Collaborating with writers to co-host writing workshops with girls and young feminists.

Weaving a Collective Tapestry Research, Toolkit and Learning Journey

Together with Olaoluwa Abagun and Trimita Chakma we developed a toolkit on child and youth participation in philanthropy. Wee co-hosted an interactive learning series with funders, in collaboration with Elevate Children Funder’s Group.

We provided strategic advice and accompaniment to funders, INGOs and UN agencies who are each beginning or deepening their work with girls and young feminists in participatory philanthropy, multilateral advocacy and girl-centered programming.
